The Neighborhood Science program focuses on the role of ecology in communities. The neighborhood science program working with Rose Street Community Center and Rognel Heights Cultural Center has involved experiential learning and activities within community centers and surrounding neighborhoods. It examines approaches for groups of young people to develop and use to gain an understanding of their neighborhood as an ecological system. It is hypothesized that such an understanding will contribute to improve the quality of their lives and will dove-tail with formal education. The presentation examines the activities conducted to date and possible future projections. The evaluation of the program focuses on issues related to organizational interaction, motivation of youth, scientists and community leaders, and content of the program.
